About me
Angela started her journey as an environmental educator in high school by volunteering at the Conservation District in Logan County Ohio where received certification in several of the national Projects while working closely with the Conservation District educator, Barbara Kuck. Angela loved making complex concepts fun and accessible to a wide range of folks. In college, she studied Natural Resource Conservation and Management at the University of Kentucky working in the forestry ecology lab and, as an upperclassman, at Fayette County's Conservation District as their Environmental Outreach Coordinator. After graduation, she briefly moved to Maryland to work for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation as a field educator before returning to Lexington to accept the role of Executive Director at Bluegrass PRIDE, now Bluegrass Greensource. In 2006, Angela left PRIDE to have her first born and pursue a graduate degree at THE Ohio State University in Communication. Upon completion, she once again moved back to Lexington where she worked in Sustainability at Transylvania University before landing her dream job, Program Manager Senior for Public Information and Engagement (PIE) in Lexington's Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works (EQPW). Working alongside her PIE colleagues, Angela gets to promote the work being done by EQPW staff while engaging folks in behaviors that help Lexington be a cleaner, kinder, healthier, safer, more efficient, more resilient community. The PIE Team does this work through education, community outreach and marketing.
